Volleyball Overview:

Practices:
We reserve 1 full week for team practices before the first scheduled game starts of the season.  The practices will happen in the evening between 6-9pm at you local school gym.  Practices will also be allowed throughout the season, however all practice dates/times will be set by the volunteer coaches.  Please direct all of you team practices to your coaches.  While we encourage all kids to attend practices, In the event a child can not make a practice, this in NO WAY will impact the amount of playing time your child sees during a game.

Games:
Your child will play 7-9 games in total.  One weekly game will be played on Monday, Tuesday, or Thursdays for 1 hour, between 6-9pm.  Generally speaking the games will be played at Ogden or Congress Park Gyms, however, if there are any scheduling conflicts, we may from time to time have to move to a different venue that will be announced.  Again, we encourage all players to make the games, but understand there are other activities that kids are involved with as well. 

The game schedules will be published some time during the week of practice week, usually at the beginning of that week


Volleyball Specific Rules:

• Ball hitting the ceiling to opponent is a dead ball, but players can play the ball from the ceiling if it is on their site of the net
• Offensive players rotate if the server scores 5 points
• Offensive players are allowed two attempts to get the ball into play during the first service, only single attempts are allowed thereafter if the first service scores a point
• Coaches determine the service line (which may be closer to the net than regulation play), however, highly skilled players must serve from the regulation distance
• Games may be played up to, but not beyond, the time allocated for each game (45 minutes)
